Vision, Mission and
Goals
Vision
Creative Schools, Creative Students, Creative
Communities
The Institute envisions individuals, schools
and communities across the nation providing meaningful and successful
learning experiences for students of all ages and situations, in
which the creative arts are a core part of the content and the process
for teaching all academic subjects.
When this approach to learning is regularly,
frequently, and widely applied, students of all abilities are able
to succeed in school and in life.
Mission
The Institute acts as convener, facilitator,
and catalyst for exploring and demonstrating the power of the use
of the arts as an essential teaching tool for all K-12 subject areas
and students.
Artists, educators, parents, community and business
leaders, policymakers, and leading thinkers are brought together
with local and national resources, experts, and models to learn
about the research and potential impacts, explore the possibilities
for their community, and make steps toward their practical application.
Goals
- To create environments and formats that
bring together educators, artists, parents, community and business
leaders, interested parties and decision makers, especially those
who do not usually come together, to explore the critical questions
of using the arts to teach core subjects.
- To help schools and communities develop
sustainable local opportunities for all students to learn through
an interconnected arts and academic environment.
- To ask essential questions about the arts
and education, involve all aspects of the community in the discussion
of these questions, and bring the questions and responses to the
public at large.
- To build a broad public base of awareness,
understanding, knowledge and support for the importance of arts
integrated education for all.
- To inspire, encourage and help support creative
endeavors in arts-integrated education.
