IEA Publishes Panel Discussion on the Role of the Arts in Learning
The Institute has released its latest report, The Role of the Arts in Effective Teaching and Learning, a panel discussion among educators and cultural leaders in Stark County, Ohio. Panelists discussed their own childhood experiences learning through the arts and how those experiences impacted their adult lives. The discussion concludes with specific suggestions and a call to action to increase this generation’s interaction with the arts. (10/4/06)

The Institute for Education and the Arts announces its blog, available online at edartsinstitute.blogspot.com. The blog contains the same content as the email listserv. From the blog, readers can email interesting posts to colleagues or leave comments.

National Overture in Ohio Activities Kick Off in Stark County
The Institute has published the Stark County program for the first phase of the 2005-06 National Overture initiative. Read about the Community Discussions, Workshops and Roundtables slated for October and learn how you can register and attend these free events. This National Overture will be followed by a more in-depth series of events including both Columbus and Stark County in the Spring of 2006. (9/27/05)

The Institute is pleased to announce the release of its first informational video. This 12-minute video introduces viewers to the mission and themes of the Institute's work in promoting education through the arts and introduces some of the many practitioners and partners who have contributed to the Institute's National Overture events in Michigan and New Mexico. IEA Releases Principals’ Roundtable Report
A Principals’ Discussion on The Value of Integrating the Arts, a roundtable
discussion held February 26 among several Columbus, Ohio principals,
shares administrators' support for arts-integrated education and identifies the need for other administrators to learn more about how the arts bolster student achievement. This publication provides a unique insight into administrator perceptions and is a valuable tool for arts advocates and curriculum leaders. (5/25/05)

Institute Publishes National Overture in New Mexico Final Report
The Institute announces the publication of Arts and the Future of Education: Report and Next Steps from the National Overture of Education and the Arts in New Mexico. This report summarizes the activities of the 2004 National Overture in New Mexico, presents findings, and makes recommendations for critical next steps as the Institute continues to stay involved with follow-up efforts.
